Local Processing Unit
A Local Processing Unit (LPU) is a PLC based data collection unit that is mounted close to the platform systems to with which it is interfaced. Survivability and redundancy requirements determine the number and location of the LPUs.
The cabinet is a shockproof housing that can be mounted on shock mounts. The LPU cabinet can be accessed via a front door. The LPU can optionally be equipped with cooling fans or a Local Control Panel, which will be mounted in the front door. Size and weight of the LPU depend on the final LPU configuration.
The Removable Terminal Block (RTB) inside the LPU allows quick replacement of the I/O modules (under power).
